Located in front of Playa del Carmen, Cozumel is a teardrop-shaped island, formed by a limestone plateau of 151 sq. miles / 392 square kilometers, with a length of 34 miles / 56 km from north to south and 8 miles / 14 km from east to west, making it the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean. The island of Cozumel is separated from mainland by a channel of only 12 miles / 19 km wide.

Famous all over the world for its coral reefs, there are more than 30 dive sites waiting to be explored and most of them are located along the west coast and the southern tip of the island.

This Mexican island is mostly undeveloped and it is home to mammals and endemic birds. Kosom Lumil, named after the ancient Mayans, is the name of Cozumel which means Land of Swallows. It has been a favorite destination for divers since 1961, when Jacques Yves Cousteau's documentary brought Cozumel's glorious marine life to the world.

Today, Cozumel belongs to the TOP 10 dive spots in the world, a true underwater wonder.

Cozumel offers plenty of activities besides diving such as snorkeling, deep sea fishing, kayaking and much more. Noteworthy is the Punta Sur Ecological Reserve and its historical lighthouse. The town of San Miguel in the heart of Cozumel is a colorful Caribbean village, at the boulevard and facing the Caribbean Sea you will find all kind of bars, restaurants and shops. A must see is the archeological site of San Gervasio, the most important Mayan Site in Cozumel. This sacred Mayan site was a sanctuary to Goddess Ixchel.
